Queer Reconciliation in Cyprus promotes love, understanding, and peace while advocating for gender equality and LGBTI+ rights. The Project led by Queer Cyprus and artist Nurtane Karagil, utilizes art, workshops, mural, and campaigns to spark positive social change. The project highlights Famagusta’s queer history, aiming for reconciliation and acceptance. Through workshops mapping queer narratives, mural installation, billboard and social media campaigns, it challenges societal norms, fosters inclusivity, and encourages dialogue on marginalized topics.
The project is funded by the Arts for Social Action small grants programme (ASA), which is implemented by Visual Voices, the Civil Society Initiative, and The Management Center of the Mediterranean within the framework of Building Community – Arts for Social Action Project (BCASA), funded by the European Union under the EU Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community.
