Unspoken Project was launched on Saturday

(Nicosia, 26/1/16) A new project: “Unspoken: Creating Dialogue on LGBTI Rights in the Turkish Cypriot Community” implemented by the Cyprus Community Media Centre (CCMC), Queer Cyprus Association and Thomson Foundation and funded by the European Union was launched this Saturday, January 23 rd at the Home for Cooperation.
The Unspoken project aims to increase LGBTI awareness in the Turkish Cypriot community and particularly within various areas such as media, education, law and health on the rights of the Lesbian, Gay Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex community in order to combat discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation as well as improving levels of media coverage and public debate in order to achieve social change.
The launch event began with opening remarks by Michaela Foresti, Head of the Programme Team of the Task Force for the Turkish Cypriot community of the European Commission and continued with a brief presentation of the project by the project team. The launch event was followed by a reception accompanied by live music made by Kaan Batural Acustic Trio.
Head of the Programme Team of the Task Force for the Turkish Cypriot community of the European Commission Michaela Foresti expressed that this project is of great importance to raise awareness and create dialogue on LGBTI rights and combat discrimination based on gender and sexual orientation in the Turkish Cypriot Community.
Project Coordinator Hazal Yolga said that as project team they will work to change the public discourse on LGBTI Rights and make sure that unspoken will be spoken.
With this launch, Unspoken Project have shown one more time that all colors are beautiful once you embrace the diversity.
