Queer Cyprus Association launched the Rainbow Fund Small Grants Programme for Activists and Civil Society Organisations.

Queer Cyprus Association launched the Rainbow Fund Small Grants Programme for Activists and Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to carry out their own projects. The Rainbow Fund will be implemented under the Rainbow Project which is funded by the European Union under the Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community and implemented by the Queer Cyprus Association.

Queer Cyprus Association has launched the Rainbow Fund Small Grants Programme for Activists and CSOs as part of the Rainbow Project which aims to enhance LGBTI+ inclusivity within the education and health sectors of the Turkish Cypriot community, and is funded by the European Union under the Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community and implemented by the Queer Cyprus Association.

The overall objective of the Rainbow Fund is to increase the capacity, effectiveness, and sustainability of relevant stakeholders to mainstream LGBTI+ rights and ensure access for members of the LGBTI+ community to health and/or education. This is to be achieved by increasing the number of actors taking action on LGBTI+ rights and diversifying activities in the northern part of Cyprus (TCc). Therefore, applications and project proposals should focus on LGBTI+ rights in the education and/or health sector.

The Rainbow Fund will be divided into two Lots, with the priority areas and thematic focus being the same for both lots. However, Lot 1 will be for individual activists or non-registered initiatives in TCc to apply, while Lot 2 will be for registered Civil Society Organizations and Non-Governmental Organizations in TCc. Funding for projects in Lot 1 will be up to 1,500 Euro, and funding for projects in Lot 2 will be up to 2,500 Euro.

Call for the Rainbow Fund application was launched on 8th March 2024, and will remain open until 16th April 2024, 16:00 (Cyprus time). An information session on this call for applications will be held online on 28th March 2024, where the application process will be discussed followed by a Questions and Answer session to ensure clarity to potential and interested applicants.

We invite activists and CSOs who want to support mainstreaming LGBTI+ rights and access of members of the LGBTI+ community to health and/or education, and further carry out activities that will help to build on more inclusive education and/or health sectors in the northern part of Cyprus.
